General Intelligence Department
The General Intelligence Department was established pursuant to Law No. (24) of 1964. The law specified the duties and tasks of the General Intelligence, to protect the internal and external security of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan by carrying out the necessary intelligence operations for that.
The Director of General Intelligence is appointed by His Majesty the King by Royal Decree, according to Article 127 of the Constitution. Officers working in General Intelligence are also appointed by Royal Decree, upon the recommendation of its Director, and with the approval of the Prime Minister.
