Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmad Hanandeh, chaired a Jordanian delegation, comprising communications and information technology companies from the private sector, to participate in the Jordanian-Iraqi ICT Forum upon the invitation of Iraqi Minister of Communications, Arkan Shahab.
During the forum, the delegation was briefed on Iraqi achievements in the field of communications and information technology.
The two ministers toured pavilions of companies participating in the exhibition, including the Jordanian pavilion, in the presence of Jordan's Ambassador to Iraq, Montaser Zu'bi.
The Iraqi minister called for facilitating Jordanian companies' mission to enter the Iraqi market by signing contracts, memoranda of understanding and strategic partnerships.
On the sidelines of the visit, a series of meetings were held, including a meeting with Iraqi Minister of Trade, Alaa Jbouri, to discuss ways of joint cooperation and provide Jordanian companies, wishing to enter the Iraqi market, facilities and to emphasize the complementarity and importance of commercial cooperation between the two countries.
In his meeting with Iraqi Interior Minister Othman Al-Ghanimi, Hanandeh stressed the importance of the cooperation between Jordan and Iraq in order to serve Jordanian citizens and companies alike, and the importance of facilitating visas issuance for companies from both parties.
In his meeting with Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Mokhif, with the participation of a group of Jordanian companies to discuss ways of cooperation in financial technology, Hanandeh lauded Central Bank of Iraq's efforts.
Hanandeh also visited the Iraqi Private Banks League, in the presence of representatives from the Iraqi banking sector and the accompanying delegation.
The meeting highlighted the two countries' financial achievements in digital transformation and ways of joint cooperation between the two parties.
Hanandeh also visited the Iraqi Communications and Media Commission, and discussed ways of cooperation in the communications and postal field, and a meeting was held with Iraqi Post to agree on enhancing cooperation and exchange between Jordanian and Iraqi Posts.
Hanandeh concluded his visit by meeting his Iraqi counterpart in the presence of officials from both sides.
Officials lauded ties between the two countries and directives of both countries’ leadership to promote and bolster cooperation and joint work, to serve public, individuals and institutions' interest, as well as the two countries' economies.
