Minister says gov't committed to cementing investment-friendly climate

Minister of Communications and Information Technology (ICT), Muthanna Gharaibeh, on Tuesday emphasized the government is committed to cementing the Kingdom's investment friendly environment to lure in additional foreign capital and investment.
During a meeting, convened by the "All Jordan Youth Commission, in northwestern city of Salt, Gharaibeh said that the government has exempted ICT investors from the sales tax and reduced the income tax to 5 percent to encourage businessmen to invest in this sector.
"We must support local entrepreneurial ideas that have reached most of the international institutions and succeeded in the most highly-reputed institutions. We have plenty of Jordanian successful stories known worldwide," he said.
He highlighted the ministry's new plans that aim to contribute to employing Jordanians, including expanding to the global market through entrepreneurs and bringing their investments to Jordan, as well as opening business offices across the country to reduce the costs of production.
